A Winner of a Comedy...

Winners and Sinners (1983)

Sammo Hung is probably best known for being one of Jackie Chan’s Chinese Opera classmates, but he is also a talented director, an accomplished comedian, and an astounding martial artist. All of these talents are on display in this movie.

The story involves five friends who are released from prison and decide to go into business for themselves; starting a cleaning service, and eventually getting more trouble than they bargained for when they run afoul of a counterfeiting gangster. Sammo is the main star, but his colleagues include John Sham, Richard Ng, Charlie Chin, and Shui-Fan Fun. Jackie Chan is along for the ride as a cop who performs a number of exciting stunts, but despite the fact that many video, and DVD editions attempt to present Chan as the star, this is really nothing more than an extended cameo, although it is a good one.

Overall, this is an enjoyable slapstick romp. Nothing that will set the world on fire, but certainly worth watching anyway, and I do recommend it.
